I've just finished a 30 day writing stint at my home in Majorca, and had planned everything so that I could catch the plane back to London on Tuesday, which usually takes, door to door, 4-5 hours. But unfortunately, along with hundreds of thousands of others, I've had to rearrange my life because of a volcano in Iceland. I get up tomorrow morning at 5am, drive to the ferry port, ferry to Barcelona, and a train from there to Bilbao.
I arrived back in England last Thursday in time to watch the second political debate on TV, then spent the weekend in Cambridge. I spoke to the students at the Cambridge Union on Friday evening, and during the Q&A - most of the questions were about politics - I asked all those who hadn't yet decided how they will vote on May 6th to raise their hands - and was surprised to see this was at least 50%.
With permission of Eyjafjallajokull, I will be travelling to Mumbai on May 1st, in order to open the new flagship Landmark bookstore on Tuesday May 4th. Macmillan will be publishing And Thereby Hangs a Talein India from Monday 3rd.
