Politics and Publishing

12th May 2015

What a strange fortnight it’s been. I don’t know about you, but three weeks of opinion polls continually indicating it would be neck and neck between Labour and the Conservatives, had utterly convinced me that we would end up with two parties trying to form a government – but the British people decided otherwise.  It gave me particular pleasure to see that three of my London Mayoral team, Sajid Javid, Robert Halfon and Priti Patel, have been promoted to the Cabinet, and I wish them well in their new roles.

It’s been a good week all round, as I learned this morning that my publishers, Pan Macmillan, have won the accolade of Publisher of the Year, for the first time in their history – a magnificent achievement, remembering they are more Southampton than Arsenal, when it comes to size.

I’m off to Majorca on Monday to start the seventh draft of book six in The Clifton Chronicles series, and will be revealing the title and showing you the cover in the near future.
