Back in London

6th June 2018

It’s been a hectic month having just got back from Mallorca where I completed the final draft of HEADS YOU WIN, and began a flurry of speeches, auctions and events. The most exciting one was going to the Albert Hall to watch my wife Mary receive an honorary Doctor of Science from Imperial College – the last person to be awarded this degree was Stephen Hawking. A few days later she gave a speech at Imperial College which you can watch on YouTube – don’t miss her singing the elements at the end! And while I was away, my son launched his new company, Playing Field, which specialises in investing in the theatre. He currently has Consent, RED and The Lieutenant of Inishmore in London.

Last weekend I was in the west country to speak at the Bath Festival of Literature – much enjoyed, and this weekend I fly to Sardinia for the publication of Only Time Will Tell, and to launch the Clifton Chronicles in Italian.

Must add that over the last few days I’ve much enjoyed Hugh Grant’s performance in A Very English Scandal, and was of course delighted that Bess, a Somerset boy, played a leading role in our victory over Pakistan in the second Test.
